Our FounderAllison Walker, Founder of Caring Hands Sarcoidosis Foundation is a mother of three and grandmother to one amazing grandson. Allison is a retired Sergeant of the Detroit Police Department where in her last assignment she served as the Commanding Officer of the Detroit Police Athletic League. Allison was diagnosed in December of 1994 with Heerfordt's Syndrome, which is a rare manifestation of Sarcoidosis (sar-koy-DO-sis). She has been living 27 plus years with systemic Sarcoidosis, systemic refers to multiple organ involvement. In 2009, Allison along with her friend Amy Thompson-Turner joined together and agreed that there was an urgent need for a patient support system dedicated to individuals affected by Sarcoidosis and founded Caring Hands Sarcoidosis Foundation. |
